The sixth annual Mount Pleasant Junior Regatta was a huge success. Held at Hobcaw Yacht Club on Saturday, Aug. 14, there were 61 sailors entered this year. After a rainy start, the skies cleared up and the winds picked up. Sailors of all ability levels participated in the event. There were (12) 420s, five sunfish, eight opti blue fleet, one opti red fleet, three opti white fleet, and 19 opti green fleet, which are for first year sailors.
Hobcaw Yacht Club and Carolina Yacht Club provided boats for many sailors that would not have been able to sail because they did not own a boat. This gave many young sailors the opportunity to take part in their first regatta.
Thanks go out to Hobcaw Yacht Club, Carolina Yacht Club, and our sponsors TowBoat U.S.-Charleson and Ye Ole Fashioned. Winners for the event were:
420 Class-First place: Reid Kaplain, Michael Lally
