Towne Centre partners with Subaru to benefit Charleston Animal Society
Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Mount Pleasant Towne Centre is partnering with Subaru of Charleston sponsoring "Stuff the Subaru" to benefit the Charleston Animal Society at the premiere of the "Cats and Dogs 2" movie at the Palmetto Grande Theater on July 30 and July 31. "'Cats and Dogs' debuts in a time of great need for our animals and for animals everywhere. At the Charleston Animal Society, the summer months present an especially difficult challenge because the shelter faces its highest intake of kittens and puppies. The more opportunity we have to make the public aware of our animals and our services, the more lives we can save," said Kay Hyman, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Charleston Animal Society. To accomplish this mission to save lives, the Charleston Animal Society needs supplies and funds to support its animals and its programs, and Subaru of Charleston is giving the public an opportunity to pitch in by dropping off needed items to the movie theatre.

"Subaru continues to support the ASPCA on a national level, and the team at Subaru of Charleston is honored to be a part of the Charleston Animal Society and Pet Helpers in their fight to save our four-legged friends," said Ken French, Marketing and Event Director for Subaru of Charleston. "Over 65 percent of Subaru owners have multiple pets in their households. We're here when they need us for sales and service."

The Charleston Animal Society will host pet-themed games in the movie theatre lobby, so children of all ages have a chance to help raise funds for animals and win prizes including movie tickets, items for Hairy Winston Pet Boutique and Towne Centre gift cards. Kittens will be available for adoption for a special reduced fee of $50. Donation items can be delivered to the front entrance of the Palmetto Grande Theater to be "stuffed into the Subaru." Charleston Animal Society asks for your support through the adoption of a shelter pet or with any generous donation. The five most needed items included supplies to support the high number of felines in the shelter and items that will enhance the animal enrichment program: Kongs, Dog ropes, Cat litter, Catnip, and Clorox wipes.

Mount Pleasant Towne Centre is a lifestyle, shopping center located on Highway 17N at the Isle of Palms Connector. Opened in 1999, Mount Pleasant Towne Centre is still one of the newest shopping centers in the Charleston area, and the only one of its style. There are a total of 65 merchants operating at Towne Centre. Retailers include Belk, Barnes & Noble, Coldwater Creek, Jos. A. Bank, the Palmetto Grande Theatre and many more. www.mtpleasanttownecentre.com.

About Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

In the eternal battle between cats and dogs, one crazed feline has just taken things a paw too far. Kitty Galore (Bette Midler), a former elite agent for spy organization MEOWS, has gone rogue. In 48 hours, she plans to unleash a diabolical device designed to not only bring her canine enemies to heel, but take down her former kitty comrades and make the world her scratching post.

Faced with this immediate and unprecedented threat, cats and dogs will be forced to work together for the first time in history in an unlikely alliance to save themselves—and their beloved humans—from global cat-astrophe. It's time for the fur to fly.

  Polls
What do people really think of having paid parking on Sullivan’s Island?
All for it, as long as residents get a sticker to put on their car to be exempt from it.

Why is this fair- I have been coming to the beach for years and I support your commercial district.

Sure, considering that the neighboring beaches, Folly and Isle of Palms, have paid parking. Sullivan’s can certainly use the revenue for the many projects they need completed, mainly installing the stormwater drainage.

What do you think of Sullivan's Island's new noise ordinance, restricting noise from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM?
Ridiculous -- what next, we will get fined to just walk in the commercial district?

All for it -- people cannot keep their windows open at night anymore because of the noise.

I am just going to go elsewhere to make some noise!
