Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum hosted their annual remembrance ceremony in honor of the 8th anniversary of 9/11.

Patriot Day serves as a memorial to the 2,998 who lost their lives on that day as well as the more than 6,291 injured.

At precisely 8:46 a.m., the exact moment the first tower of the World Trade Center was struck by the hijacked jetliner, members of the Mount Pleasant Fire Department’s Honor Guard began a procession down the pier to the USS Yorktown, accompanied by a bagpiper from the Charleston Police Department Bagpipe Band and escorted by students from Moultrie Middle School. The procession ended in Hangar Bay III aboard the USS Yorktown where local dignitaries and guests participated in remembering that horrible day.

Patriots Point Interim Executive Director, Dick Trammell, offered remarks followed by prayer. The service concluded with the lighting of candles and the laying of a wreath in Charleston Harbor by Mount Pleasant’s Mayor Pro Tem Kruger Smith and students from Moultrie Middle School.

What do people really think of having paid parking on Sullivan’s Island?
All for it, as long as residents get a sticker to put on their car to be exempt from it.

Why is this fair- I have been coming to the beach for years and I support your commercial district.

Sure, considering that the neighboring beaches, Folly and Isle of Palms, have paid parking. Sullivan’s can certainly use the revenue for the many projects they need completed, mainly installing the stormwater drainage.

What do you think of Sullivan's Island's new noise ordinance, restricting noise from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM?
Ridiculous -- what next, we will get fined to just walk in the commercial district?

All for it -- people cannot keep their windows open at night anymore because of the noise.

I am just going to go elsewhere to make some noise!
