Lane Closures Scheduled for US 17 Pavement Investigation work in Support of Future Widening Project - Lane closures will occur from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21 – Friday, April 25

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (April 16, 2008 - The Town of Mount Pleasant advises the public of road work that will require temporary lane closures along US 17 in Mount Pleasant on Monday, April 21 through Friday, April 25, from 10 p.m. - 6 a.m.

The portion of the road that will be affected by the temporary lane closures is US 17 from the Isle of Palms Connector to Darrell Creek Trail (just beyondWando High School).

Only one lane will be closed at a time, and at no point will the entire roadway be blocked.

The road work will consist of testing that is needed by designers to widen and make intersection improvements to US 17. The design is being performed for the Town by Collins Engineers, Inc. of Charleston, SC, and is being funded by the Town of Mount Pleasant.

The single-lane closures will be continuous, moving from one portion of the road to the next as the work progresses so that the entire area won’t be closed at any time during the testing. The testing will occur in 100-foot increments and last approximately 20 minutes per location.

During the testing, trucks with lighted flashing arrow signs will be on site to warn drivers of the approaching lane closures.
