Get your live music event listed in The Music Scene
Wednesday, April 08, 2009
By Stu Johnson

Well, you can’t keep a good man down. Just when I finally organized my thoughts about the closing of Budiroes, I see that Ronnie Johnson has already re-surfaced in the former Island Club House location.

Now that’s exciting news for many reasons. That location is a mere stone’s throw from the padded cell that we in Allnightkungfu call a practice place. So now we can take a break, walk over have a beer (club soda for me, thanks), enjoy some great music and great local seafood.

So check out Buddy Roe’s Shrimp Shack, I’m sure you’ll be glad you did.

I had a nice conversation with John Iacofano on the phone yesterday and he told me about what’s going on at Iacofano’s Grill.

He’s enlisted the help of Wayne Slagel to get live music there. You can check out Shane Clark this Friday and Category 6 on Saturday; $2 Bud Lights all the time.

Stop by and tell ‘em Stu sent you.

Now that things have slowed down for me a bit, I can get back to compiling the weekly music listings for the East Cooper area. This week’s  listings are bigger and better than ever but I do know that there are more places that feature live music.

Now it’s my job to compile the listings but I do need help. If you would like the music events in your place of business listed, just send me an e-mail.

The deadline for each weeks column is Monday so get the info to me by Sunday and I will include it. I still try to call around but often with no results. I understand, people are busy, it’s cool. But the listings are a free way to promote the live entertainment  to a great deal of people in the area. Another thing is that I often find things to write about while compiling the listings. I’ll see an artist or band that I’ve never heard of or hadn’t heard from in a while and start digging for info about them. So let me know.

Here are the listings for the upcoming week. See you next week when I’ll give you a final look at the March Madness Battle of the Bands.
