- Pastor Dupheline Dieulifaite, Desfourneaux Village, Haiti
While Haiti has entered the hurricane season and therefore the rainy season, resurgence of the cholera outbreak is starting to be seen. “Last week, the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) issued a statement saying that 2,600 people in Haiti were infected with cholera every week. However, Oxfam said the number of deaths is much lower than last year as people are able to get help faster” (Mission Network News).
With preparation to help anticipated inflicted areas, staff at Water Missions International in Haiti is hard at work to install additional safe water systems and teach health and hygiene sessions to ensure sustainability. A shipment of 40 Living Water™ Treatment Systems will be leaving the Charleston, S.C. headquarters today to supplement the systems that have been installed to date.
