The Charleston Tea Plantation presents its First Annual First Flush Festival.

This Saturday,May 17, 2008, we will be celebrating the beginning of our harvest season with the First Flush Festival.

The first flush of our tea plants begins in the spring, and the tea from this first harvest will be available fresh at the festival. Gates are open from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Come join us for the day and enjoy music, food, art, activities, and the freshest tea in the world, First FlushLoose Tea!

We will have music all day long which includes famous headliner: Mike Doughty, Needtobreathe,Virginia Coalition and Jeff Buchanan. Also our radio sponsor, The Bridge at 105.5, will be broadcasting live from the festival.

There will be plenty of food to enjoy like barbeque, shrimp and grits, boiled peanuts, funnel cakes, kettle corn, and other snacks to munch on. Also, enjoy local wine here at the festival grown just up the road at Irvin-House Vineyard.

Many local artist will join us to show off their photography, paintings, jewelry, books, glass scultures, and sweet grass baskets.

Don’t forget to bring the kids for pony rides, face painting, balloons, frisbee golf, a jump castle, spider bunjee jump and a raffle for various prizes.

Tickets can be purchased for $8 in advance or $10 day of festival. Children ages 6-12 are $5, and under the age of 6 is free. Purchase tickets at the Charleston Tea Plantation or at
