The Red Carpet Goes Down For The Fourth Annual Charleston Fashion Week March 16-20th!
Thursday, March 11, 2010

Less

than a week away, participating designers and retailers are putting

the final touches on their runway shows, event organizers are burning

the midnight oil, and the tents in Marion Square are being

transformed to host the fourth annual Charleston Fashion Week®

presented by the Art Institute of Charleston.  Fashion fever is

in the air, if you haven't reserved a seat to catch all the

red-carpet action, March 16-20th you better act fast.  Featuring

more than 30 runway shows, battling DJs, hip-hop violinist,

professional dancers, onsite shopping, and special guests to include

actor and new designer Orlando Jones, designer Carmen Marc Valvo, and

ELLE fashion director Anne Slowey, this is one ticket you don’t

want to be fashionably late to purchase.

 In

conjunction to the Emerging Designer Semifinalists debuting their

collections, Project

Runway's

fan favorite and Emerging Designer Fashion Panel Judge Mychael

Knight, will premiere his provocative new collection as Wednesday's

featured designer.  "My F/W 2010 collection Carte Blanche

is an

unapologetic approach to the aesthetic of the label.  It's about

me having the complete authority to do as I please.  I'm excited

and honored to debut the fresh and altered spirit of my label at

Charleston Fashion Week"

Another CFW alum to return to the tents includes, Charleston local

and 2009 Emerging Designer Winner, Marysia Reeves whose 2010

Summer/Spring swimsuit line was just featured in Sports Illustrated’s

Swimsuit edition.

This

city is aglow with a flurry of fashion activities to include trunk

shows, charity events, and Charleston Fashion Week's shopping event,

GO! FASHION running through March 14th. So if your still in search of

the perfect outfit, check out the more than 35 retailers in the area

offering special promotions and sales in preparation of CFW 2010. For

an entire listing of participating stores, check out the March issue

of Charleston

magazine.

If

eye candy, as opposed to retail therapy, is more up your alley,

Charleston Fashion Week® special guests include; Project

Runway

heartthrob Logan Neitzel, Ovie Mughelli of the Atlanta Falcons,

Michael Fink of SCAD, Gordana Gehlhausen and Carol Hannah Whitfield

from Project Runway Season 6. To make sure you don't miss a minute of

the action as it unfolds, log on to www.charlestonfashionweek.com

tickets are Auf wiedersehen!

What do people really think of having paid parking on Sullivan’s Island?
All for it, as long as residents get a sticker to put on their car to be exempt from it.

Why is this fair- I have been coming to the beach for years and I support your commercial district.

Sure, considering that the neighboring beaches, Folly and Isle of Palms, have paid parking. Sullivan’s can certainly use the revenue for the many projects they need completed, mainly installing the stormwater drainage.

What do you think of Sullivan's Island's new noise ordinance, restricting noise from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM?
Ridiculous -- what next, we will get fined to just walk in the commercial district?

All for it -- people cannot keep their windows open at night anymore because of the noise.

I am just going to go elsewhere to make some noise!
