Samuel Daniel Causey

Samuel "Sam" Daniel Causey, 94, husband of the late Myrtle Gertrude Jackson Causey of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. The relatives and friends of Sam D. Causey were invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday, August 6, 2011 in First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive, at 2:00 p.m. Burial was private. The family will received friends on Friday, August 5, 2011 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Sam was born on November 20, 1916 in Cordesville, SC, the son of the late Henry Owen Causey and Dice Elizabeth Mitchum Causey. He served in the United States Army and retired as a lineman with South Carolina Electric and Gas Company. His secondary career, and the one he enjoyed the most, was planting and harvesting grapes on his property in Phillip off Hwy 41 in Mount Pleasant. Every year he produced a bountiful crop of grapes and various other garden vegetables, which he and Danny shared with many of their friends.

The thing that Sam loved most was opening Causey's Barber Shop with his son, Danny, at 6 a.m. He made the coffee, welcomed the customers, and added his own touch of humor to the daily routine. He will be greatly missed by those who called him father and friend. He attended the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant.

He is survived by his son, Larry Daniel "Danny" Causey and his wife, Peggy, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one daughter, Betty Ann Lemons, and her husband, Joe, of Sugar Hill, GA; one sister, Sadie Harmon of Cainhoy, SC; four grandchildren, Michael Causey, Donnie Causey and his wife, Leslie, Michael Lemons and Terry Lemons; and five great grandchildren, Zack and Aaron Causey, Wesley, Matthew and Taylor Lemons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 or First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.

A memorial message may be written by visiting www.jhenrystuhr.com.
