Mr. Sullivan was born May 1, 1946 in Middletown, Connecticut, son of the late John William Sullivan and Anne Fitzgibbons Sullivan. He was the Assistant Athletic Director, a member of the Football Foundation and the Owls Alumni Association at Southern Connecticut State University. In 2003, he was inducted into the Southern Alumni Sports Hall of Fame. He retired from Southern in 2006 after over 35 years with the university’s athletic department. Shortly after, he and Lauren moved to Mt. Pleasant and he was most recently working at Publix in Daniel Island, SC, where “Mr. Bill” was much loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Lauren Sullivan of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sons, Brendyn Sullivan and his wife, Kori, of Charlotte, NC and Easton Sullivan serving in Iraq with the U.S. Army; daughter, Kyli Sullivan of Greenville, NC, brothers, Michael Sullivan of Glastonbury, CT and John Sullivan of Portland, CT; sisters, Patricia Sienkiewicz of Portland, CT and Betty Martyszczyk of Westbrook, CT; and his mother-in-law, Phyllis Jetter of Northford, CT.
