Catherine Kirby Baughman, 64, of Gainesville, Georgia died Friday,
Feb. 18, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a courageous
battle with leukemia.
She was born Jan. 14, 1947 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Harry Douglas Kirby, Jr. and Anne Catherine McGuire Kirby.
Mrs.
Baughman moved to Georgia in 1969 from Huntsville, Alabama. Following
the retirement of her husband they moved to Gainesville from Lilburn 11
years ago. She was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church, a loving
wife, mother and grandmother, and will be deeply missed by all who knew
and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baughman is also preceded in death by her brother, Harry Douglas Kirby III.
Survivors
include her husband of 41 years; Dr. Joseph E. Baughman of Gainesville,
daughters and sons-in-law; Elisabeth and Adam Davis of Jefferson and
Catherine and Aaron Gates of New Bern, N.C., grandchildren; Janie Davis,
Kyle Davis and Ava Gates, brother; James Edward Kirby of Johns Island,
S.C., first cousin; Diane Schofield of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and other
loving relatives and friends.
A memorial mass was held at 11 a.m.
Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at Saint Michael Catholic Church, 1440 Pearce
Circle, Gainesville, Ga. The family received friends at Saint Michael
Catholic Church following the service.
