John Allen Green, Jr.
  
John Allen Green, Jr., 92, husband of the late Caroline 'Clyde' Wade Green of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2010. The relatives and friends of John Allen Green, Jr. were invited to attend his funeral service on Monday, February 1, 2010 in the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant at 2:00 P.M.  Entombment followed in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.  The family received friends in the J HENRY STUHR, MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

    

Mr. Green was born November 9, 1917 in Macon, Georgia, son of the late John Allen Green, Sr. and Ruth Tyler Green.  He attended school at Georgia Tech and The Citadel. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a retired engineer/shop 38 foreman at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was also a life member of Etiwan Masonic Lodge, a total life member of the Omar Shrine Temple, Sons of Confederate Veterans, American Legion, DAV, and VFW.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant where he was a former deacon. He was also a resident of Sweet Grass Memory Care and loved to sing to the residents.

He is survived by his three daughters, Carol G. Klein and her husband, Wilson, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Janice G. Knight and her husband, Doug, of Greendale, IN and Cynthia G. Westmoreland and her husband, Frank, of Murrells, Inlet, SC; one son, John Allen Green, III and his wife, Glyn, of Beaufort, SC; one brother, Bobby Green and his wife, Peggy, of Decatur, GA; one sister, Anese Brown of Macon, GA; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The family request that memorials be made to the Shiners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC  29605-4277 or the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive, Mt. Pleasant, SC  29464.
