Jonathan “Perry” Basten, 57, husband of Kathie Jennings Basten, of Mount Pleasant, SC, passed away at his home after a brave battle against sarcoma on Thursday, February 14, 2008. The relatives and friends of Jonathan “Perry” Basten are invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Monday, February 18, 2008 in Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Sunday, February 17, 2008 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Jon was born June 7, 1950 in Madison, Wisconsin, son of the late John Arthur Basten and Mary Claire Halpin Basten. Jon received his undergraduate degree from Ohio State University, his Masters degree from the University of Southern California in International Relations, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame. He served our country during the Vietnam era and later in the Air Force as a JAG. After retirement, he established the Basten Law Office in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant, where he served on the board and was distinguished as a Paul Harris Fellow. He loved his family, his profession, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Green Bay Packers.
