Pauline Elizabeth (Betty) Nelson Dangerfield
  
Pauline Elizabeth (Betty) Nelson Dangerfield of Isle of Palms, widow of Clyde M. Dangerfield Sr., passed away peacefully at her home Sunday morning June 7, 2009. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in First United Methodist Church, 12 21st Avenue, Isle of Palms, SC, at 4:00 pm. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR INC., MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL.  The family  received friends Monday, June 8, 2009 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mt. Pleasant Chapel.

Mrs. Dangerfield was born December 24, 1922 in Charleston, SC, daughter of John Joseph Nelson and Susan Catherine Passarello Nelson.  She was co-owner and manager of Suburban Gas and Appliance for many years.  While her husband served in the SC House of Representatives, Mrs. Dangerfield was a member of the Palmetto Cabinet. Along with her husband, Mrs. Dangerfield was a founder and charter member of the First United Methodist Church. Following its inception, she remained the Church Historian.  She also served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Mrs. Dangerfield continued to uphold her church through the United Methodist Women, Betty Dangerfield Circle and Crafty ladies. In addition to Mrs. Dangerfield’s spiritual commitment, she contributed to her community as a member of the Isle of Palms Exchange Club.  

 

Mrs. Dangerfield was a devoted mother to her 6 children.  Surviving are her sons: Clyde M. Dangerfield, Jr. and wife, Dolores, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Timothy N. Dangerfield and wife, Anna, of Aiken, SC and David A. Dangerfield and wife, Leigh, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three daughters:  Dolly D. Cannon of Isle of Palms, SC,  Shirley A. Dangerfield and Susan M. Dangerfield, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC.  She also leaves her grandchildren: Ashley, Dax and Spencer Cannon; David Grainger; Clay, Hope, Rock, Brook, Ben, Drew and Langston Dangerfield; and nine great grandchildren.  Sister: Helen N. Lindsey of Tifton, Ga. Brother: John J. Nelson and wife, Emma, of Mt. Pleasant, SC.  Mrs. Dangerfield also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and her precious dog, Buddy, her loving companion for many years. In addition, the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you for the loving care of their mother and grandmother to Mary Horry, Janet Douglas and especially, Rebecca Venning, who has been lovingly devoted to the Dangerfield family for 48 years.
