Robert “Bob” Edgar Pyle
  
Robert “Bob” Edgar Pyle, 81, husband of Patricia Brittain Cooper Pyle

of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009.  The

relatives and friends of Bob Pyle are invited to attend his Memorial

Service on Saturday, January 10, 2009 in Hibben United Methodist Church

at 2:00 pm.  Burial will be private.  Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR

MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.  The family will receive friends at Stuhr’s

Mount Pleasant Chapel on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00

pm.

Mr. Pyle was born on July 25, 1927, and was raised in

Middlebourne, West Virginia, son of the late Edgar Fleming Pyle and

Mable Margurite Relyea Pyle. He was a graduate of Tyler High School

and  West Virginia University with degrees of B.S.Ch.E., M.S.Ch.E., and

Ph.D.Ch.E. An Honorary Doctor of Science degree was conferred by West

Virginia University in 1980.  He was a member of the Irvin Stewart

Society, a founding member of the Chemical Engineering Academy and a

former member of the Board of Directors of the West Virginia University

Foundation.  Mr. Pyle joined Union Carbide Corp. in 1952 at South

Charleston, West Virginia, moving to Corporate Headquarters in New York

in 1960.  After 34 years of service with Union Carbide, Dr. Pyle, a

Corporate Vice President, retired in 1987 in Mt. Pleasant, SC.  He was

a United States Navy Veteran and a member of Hibben United Methodist

Church.

 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Pyle of Mt.

Pleasant, SC; three children, Susan Ann Perry of Nashville, TN, Paul T.

Pyle of Ridgeland, SC and Roberta P. Hudson of Aiken, SC; and three

grandchildren.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to a charity of one’s choice.
