William Charles Lewis III
  
William Charles Lewis III, 57, of Mt. Pleasant, husband of Nancy Simpson Lewis, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at a local hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Lewis were held Thursday, June 11, 2009 in First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant at three o’clock.  

Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Following the interment there was a Celebration of his life at E.C.O.M.C. on Goldbug Island. The family received friends Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL.

William Charles Lewis III was born on October 26, 1951 in San Diego, California, a son of the late Lt. William Charles Lewis II, US Navy, Ret. Civil Engineer Corp. and Mildred Foster Lewis Kimm.  Billy was a 1969 graduate of Moultrie High School.

He attended Clemson University prior to serving as a medical corpsman in the US Air Force until 1975. He was a 1977 graduate of Charleston Southern University with a degree in Marketing and Hotel and Restaurant Management. He was manager of the Creekside Pro Shop; then for 30 years, Bill was Manager of Sales for Allen & Webb Company.

Billy was a lifetime member of The First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, the East Cooper Outboard Motor Club, a twenty year member of the Oakland Sports Club, and owner of the Bro Dome.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Nancy Simpson Lewis; son: William Charles Lewis IV of Vienna, VA; daughter: Charlotte Allison Lewis of Mt. Pleasant; his mother: Mildred Foster Lewis Kimm and step-father: Howard Frederick Kimm of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters: Gayle and husband Jim Carson of Mt. Pleasant, Pam and husband Chuck Dolan of James Island and Judy and husband Bo Grover of Kingsport, Tenn.; twenty eight nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Special Olympics South Carolina, 1276 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
