Pete Loy, president of Citadel Enterprises, has earned the designation of being a Certified Green Professional.
The designation comes from the National Association of Home Builders and assures homeowners that the remodeler they choose is authentically “green” in their renovation practices.
“I can help our customers by offering ideas to implement green ideas,” Loy said. “It’s not my job to educate clients on political and radical environmental issues, rather to make them aware of green building options by providing them a list of features they otherwise might not have considered.”
Some of these options include choosing energy efficient appliances, using sustainable or recycled products, and incorporating indoor air quality devices into the remodel.
In order to receive the designation, Loy participated in a two-day training and education session and completed a University of Housing management course. Additionally, he agreed to adhere to a code of ethics that states he will reduce the environment impact of remodeling projects by incorporating “green” practices into his work.
“I have concerns regarding the state of our environment and figure that although my impact may be small, every effort to conserve our resources can add up in the long run. It will be good for business and the environment,” Loy said.
