Hoopster’s Heaven announces free basketball camp
Wednesday, July 01, 2009

Hoopster’s Heaven has partnered  with Velocity Sports Performance and will conduct the first “Back to School” Basketball Camp and School Supply Drive  to benefit Charleston County Schools.  Entry fee to camp will be school supplies.

All supplies and proceeds from this week-long camp, which will run from July 27-31, will be donated to area Charleston County schools.

The camp will be held at Velocity Sports Performance, located at 411 Wando Park Blvd.,  in Mount Pleasant.

The “Back to School Camp” was conceived and organized  by James Lee, president of Hoopster’s Heaven and a longtime advocate of bettering the academic and athletic conditions for today’s youth.

“I know from experience how the combination of basketball and academics at an early age can have a lasting effect on the development  of social and personal skills,” Lee stated.  “Ultimately, communities  need to be involved in the nurturing and growing process of our youth.”

What do people really think of having paid parking on Sullivan’s Island?
All for it, as long as residents get a sticker to put on their car to be exempt from it.

Why is this fair- I have been coming to the beach for years and I support your commercial district.

Sure, considering that the neighboring beaches, Folly and Isle of Palms, have paid parking. Sullivan’s can certainly use the revenue for the many projects they need completed, mainly installing the stormwater drainage.

What do you think of Sullivan's Island's new noise ordinance, restricting noise from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM?
Ridiculous -- what next, we will get fined to just walk in the commercial district?

All for it -- people cannot keep their windows open at night anymore because of the noise.

I am just going to go elsewhere to make some noise!
