Velocity sports peformance to host Champion's Training Academy Printer Friendly Version | 0 comment(s)
Velocity Sports Performance will host the first ever Champion’s Training Academy for Lowcountry High School varsity volleyball teams. This free, one-day event on Saturday, Aug. 16, includes a clinic and SPARQ Testing (the latest performance assessment standard from Nike), skills video analysis, a full media day, a food reception, and guest speakers from around the sport. Sixteen of the area’s best team have been invited to show off their athleticism as they undergo a series of performance tests, which will be demonstrated and administered by the certified performance coaches at Velocity Sports Performance. Each team will also have some time in Velocity’s full-sized volleyball gym for a skills practice with video analysis. Finally, there will be a food reception for the athletes, coaches, and media while listening to a panel of speakers. The agenda in brief The following teams have been invited to attend the Academy between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.: Porter-Gaud, Ashley Hall, Cane Bay, Wando, Palmetto Christian, Bishop England, First Baptist School of Charleston, and Coastal Christian Preparatory. The afternoon session, running from 12-5 p.m., will presumably include West Ashley, Northwoods Academy, Hanahan, Stratford, Fort Dorchester, Pinewood Preparatory, Berkeley, Ashley Ridge and Summerville. The schools will not be competing in any way. Notes to Media: You will have the opportunity for photos and interviews with over 150 players, 12 coaches, our speakers, and the Velocity Sports Performance Staff. You are welcome at the food reception and to cover the speaker line-up, who includes Jason Kepner, head volleyball coach for the College of Charleston, Allan Johnson, sports performance director at Velocity, and Dr. Adam Greenman of Longpoint Family Chiropractic.
