Anderson and Mills unite in marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Ernest Mills

Carley McCall Anderson and Christopher Ernest Mills, both of Mount Pleasant, were married at 5 p.m. on Sept. 19 at St. Andrew’s Church in Mount Pleasant. Reverend Conrad Monroe Brown performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Middleton Anderson of Charleston. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Robert Maxwell Anderson of Charleston; the late Dr. Robert Maxwell Anderson; and the late Mr. and Mrs. George H. Parks of Augusta, GA. The honorary grandmother of the bride is Mrs. Eugene Clavier, of Brevard, NC. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Ernest Mills of Mount Pleasant. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Felton Clark Sisk of Lexington, SC; Mrs. Bruce Ernest Mills of West Palm Beach, FL; and the late Dr. Bruce Ernest Mills.

The bride and groom met at Wando High School, where they were both on the academic quiz bowl team, math team, and newspaper staff. They attended the prom together before graduating and going their separate ways for college and graduate school. The bride received her B.A. in German from Georgetown University and her M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is currently a resident in Internal Medicine at MUSC. The groom received his B.A. in economics from Furman University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He is employed by Winston & Strawn LLP.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Matrons of Honor were Mrs. Sims Anderson Plunkett and Mrs. Francie Anderson Caldwell, of Mount Pleasant, both sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Julia Dizhevskaya, of Ukraine; Miss Ann Elizabeth Hiat, of West Orange, NJ; Dr. Courtney Virginia Jordan, of Dillon, SC; Dr. Meghan Skinner Jordan, of Mount Pleasant; Miss Elizabeth Colleen Silvius, of San Bernardino, California; and Mrs. Tiffany Mills Thompson, of Mount Pleasant.

Dr. Richard Ernest Mills of Mount Pleasant was the best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Alexander Barrett Bowdre, of Birmingham, AL; Mr. Stephen William Henrick, of Philadelphia, PA; Mr. William Laird Hinson, of Huntsville, AL; Mr. Thomas Lee Mills, of Mount Pleasant; Dr. Harrison Lanier Plunkett, of Alpharetta, GA; Mr. Andrew Paul Tamayo, of Charlotte, NC; and Mr. John Oliver Thorlin, of Andover, MA.

The flower girl was Miss Sarah Elizabeth DeWaay. The ring bearer was Master Andrew Jason DeWaay. The readers were Miss Merrideth Ashley Morris, of Andrews, SC, and Miss Abigail Nicole Washispack, of Charleston. Ushers were Mr. Nicholas Bennett Caldwell, of Greenville; Mr. Kirby McClanahan Thompson, of James Island; and Mr. John Philip Prickett, of Mount Pleasant. Soloists were Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Hinson, of Greenville, and Miss Katelyn Enver Carter, of Charleston. Program attendants were friends of the bride: Jennifer Barrie Stanley, of Collinsville, VA; and Emma Knox Traynham, of Charleston.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Alhambra Hall.

After a honeymoon to Santorini, Greece, the newlyweds will reside in Charleston.
