The Fifes and Drums of Yorktown will offer a special performance at Fort Moultrie at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20. This Revolutionary War fife and drum group, formed in 1976 in York County, Va. strives to preserve this historically unique and important art form; they are celebrating their 43rd anniversary of teaching youth the fundamentals and drills of 18th Century military field music. The group appears at nearly 100 performances annually, primarily at locations of historical prominence along the East Coast.
Park entrance fees of $7 per adult will apply to this event. American the Beautiful Passes are honored at Fort Moultrie.
Fort Moultrie, located at 1214 Middle Street, Sullivan’s Island represents the entire history of static seacoast defense in the United States from the American Revolution to the end of World War II. The site is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes a visitor center with museum exhibits and an orientation film.
