Lexi Gravino wrote “Spread the Love,” a children’s book inspired by her brother Zach (pictured) who has Down syndrome.

Lexi Gravino is a Mount Pleasant local who is currently attending the University of South Carolina. She wrote and illustrated a children’s book on the importance of inclusion and acceptance in our society. “Spread the Love” is about a town that lacks joy, compassion and forgiveness. The main character, Lexi Lou, must share her words of wisdom to bring love and compassion back into the hearts of the people. The inspiration for writing the book was her brother Zach, who has Down syndrome.

“Zach is a great example of someone who embraces individuality, disregards judgement and loves abundantly,” Gravino said.
