01) 'Disorderly' female

A husband’s bid to protect his allegedly abusive spouse from being arrested wasn’t enough to stop the suspect from reportedly attacking Mount Pleasant authorities during an April 10 call for service, earning her a trip to prison.

When responding to a domestic disturbance call at 10:50 p.m. at Franklin Tower Drive, police met with the complainant who appeared defensive and tight-lipped, per a corresponding police incident report.

After reminding the subject of the call about his intoxicated wife hitting him, the husband claimed that Jennifer Lynn Smith, a 42-year-old White female, struck him in the right upper lip area. Police didn’t notice any sign of injury and/or bruise.

The alleged victim alerted cops that he “didn’t want his wife to go to jail,” police said. At that moment, however, Smith stepped out of her house and began cursing at the responding officer.

While the officer invited her to step back inside and allow him to finish his questioning, she reportedly refused and ordered the law enforcement agent to leave the property.

A second officer arrived on the scene and attempted to keep the the alleged offender inside, but the 5-foot-6, 140-pound woman in question kept flailing her arms and legs in a “violent manner.”

Police eventually cuffed Smith, as she continued to continued to attack the officers, kicking one in the knee and in the genitals.

“Jennifer proceeded to scream, thrash and use foul language in the street until she was placed in [the] patrol vehicle,” read the police report.

On the car ride to the local detention center in North Charleston, Smith allegedly began kicking the back passenger window, attempting to shatter it.

When arriving at the Charleston County Detention Center (CCDC), she continued behaving in a “disorderly” fashion.
