Christmas is coming the turkey should be fat with the tax cuts, wage increases and the continuing gains in the investment markets. Some of the turkey money should be saved to purchase art at Perspective Gallery. There will be less of a "left over" burden on the family and a beautiful picture on the wall.

Beginnning in mid-November there will be a special Holiday display of minature and smaller pictures at the Perspective Gallery. Last year these minatures were very popular as gifts and fillers for that small naked place over the kitchen light switch. Some even fit into some of the larger stockings. Last year popular art consultant Dicky the Decorator recommended that a client buy 5 minatures for an arrangement instead of one larger picture.

On Saturday Dec. 1 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. there will a reception at Perspective Gallery for you to puruse the mini-paintings and sip complementary champagne and eat food(nibble on holiday treats) and mingle with artists, patrons and interested parties. The receptions have been very successful and haved proved a showcase of the culinary talents of the Perspective Gallery artists. Local food by local artists. What an ideal way to spend a Saturday afternoon(Have not checked football schedules yet to recommend a way to do both)

The November Artist of the Month Kathy Clark. As with many women, Kathy will not divulge her age but is a true Charlestonian born during the Baby boomer Generation. Kathy was born to a large family- the good ole days when one did not need money to enjoy the essence of the Lowcountry- family vacations at Folly - fishing, crabbing - enjoying all the Lowcountry has to offer. These life experiences and the history of the Lowcountry play an important part in Clark's art. She was drawn to art after stumbling on an envelop of her mother's personal sketches and drawings. Clark does not follow any defined approach. She interprets her inspirations by working in an impressionistic style with a touch of realism. When viewing Clark's pictures you know that you are in the Carolina's. Floating down a tidal creek teaming with shrimp behind Morris Island or watching a trout feed on a mountain stream near Ashville. Her recent interpretations of the New York City skyline are a new step and a treat to behold.

Contact Kathy Clark at the Perspective Gallery. The holidays are about here. The weather seems to be cooling. Watch the snow in other parts of the world on TV. Get in the spirit. Come to one of the Lowcountry's best kept secrets - the Perspective Gallery.

Jim Rowe is a local artist. His work is displayed at the gallery along with hundreds of others. Perspective Gallery is located at 1055 Johnnie Dodds Blvd. in the Crickentree Shopping Center.
