Josiah James scored 36 points to guide Porter-Gaud past Hammond, 61-58, Tuesday in Columbia.
Porter-Gaud trailed 14-9 at the end of a first quarter in which James scored all four of the Cyclones’ field goals.
Porter-Gaud poured in 22 points in the second quarter, bolstered by 14 from James, to seize a 29-26 lead headed into halftime.
James went scoreless in the third quarter but Chai Kirshtein hit a pair of 3-pointers to keep the Cyclones ahead 39-35 entering the fourth.
James sealed the win for the Cyclones with 14 points in the final quarter.
Trent Green led Hammond with 18 points, 10 coming in the fourth quarter.
Porter-Gaud (5-2) will host Trinity-Byrnes on Friday.
