On Thursday morning, Law Enforcement Officers from around the Lowcountry began a 130-mile relay of a Special Olympics Flame of Hope. Starting from the beach at Sullivan’s Island’s Station 22½ Street, officers escorted the torch to the steps of the Statehouse in Columbia.

This relay represents the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics continued commitment to increase awareness, raise funds, and provide support for South Carolina’s 28,902 Special Olympic Athletes.

So far, the relay has raised nearly $20,000 and counting and is set to be completed Friday once the final leg crosses the finish at the state capital.
